On a recent visit to the Yonkers, NY loft building which houses many incredible artists, we visited one of our new artists’ studio, Catherine Latson. We just started carrying Catherine’s work about a month ago. Her sculptural wall pieces are a mix of organic materials (copper wires, vines, moss, leaves) mounted on textural linen, and encapsulated in plexi boxes giving them a important, modern feel. Catherine takes inspiration from nature’s principles of design, structure, texture and color.

The grace of a vine’s curve, its proclivity to weave and interlock, its potential to twist or bend without breaking, the filigree of a fern, or the scalloped space between scattered leaves are inherent characteristics that inspire concepts and propel composition.
